fast couple of days.
remaking HARPER on smoother surface, and preparing for shoot with Kevin (!) tomorrow. Glad he's back for the summer (?) at least.
Hot day. Really happy to have air conditioning. For my walkabout today I went to Safeway for pretzels. Nice to be out in the heat (and to return quickly to cool off). Best of both worlds.
Had the worst Saturday, stuck inside and frustrated. I wanted to be out, but kept fizzling. So typical. Now that I'm not printing at the Corcoran, I'm very directionless on Saturdays. Planning ahead activities was never my forte.
We have JACK now for few weeks. Looks like he will be pretty easy, but mornings will start earlier, and walking will be doubled.
Remi has been so tough this past year. Tomorrow is our 13(!!!!) anniversary, she's an old girl. She has slowed down a lot. Walks outside are a major test of patience. Inside she does just fine. Maybe another dog around will perk her up.

Nothing but frustration, but in the end I keep telling myself to staaaaay positive.
This one drawing became a laser focus of insanity. Like when you lose your keys, look everywhere, go insane, look everywhere again, lose your mind, look everywhere again, you can't leave, you can't do anything else but look. For. Your. Keys. (everywhere), but they are not there. THEY ARE NOT THERE. But you had them! You must have them somewhere. Just keep looking. EVERYWHERE.
This was the same. I was paralyzed. I would draw, get frustrated, look at distractions, come back to it, and cycle through. Over and over. And I couldnt stop. I had to figure it out.
Anyway, hopefully I have.

HOT tuesday
HOT june!
drawing more today. Maybe I turned a corner?? I'm cautiously optimistic.
All our plants are thriving in the sun. poor zinnias keep drooping. Poor tomatoes are too hot to friut. Cooler days ahead.
Went to the pool a bunch over the weekend, but it's really crowded now. I liked those slower days.
Leesburg on Sunday for Chad and Dad. Fruit salad was a hit!

All sorts of problems with computer, phone, stomach, drawing, etc.
Computer and phone laaaaaaaaaag. Clearly I've crossed the line at apple - way past expiration dates. Suddenly or slowly over time, both are losing their snappiness and have become painfully slow and sad.

Bad stomach yesterday prevented my massage from happening. bummer
Drawing is going bad today. 15,000 drawing later, and I'm still not there with this cat.

great sweaty hot humid rainy stormy filling gay weekend.
INTERSTELLAR (loved)
WILD (really liked)
gay pride parade (loved the shirtless bbq that I walked by in my old q st. alley) and party for Maria at Cafe Asia later. Fun to watch everybody having so much fun (at both venues). Line dancing and balloons, and beautiful gym bodies and Indonesian rice and sponge cake and ronnie on gridr and the jade necklace gang.
SOO happy to skip the sweltering festival sunday, and instead go to Rockville early. But we got back kind of late, in the heavy rain, and pretty much pooped out afterwards. Sundays in Rockville are draining.
(hexy won parcheesi, which is good. and the shortcake was 100% best yet)
Our tomatoes are growing wildly. Summer is progressing.

heat and humidity and lazy
finished (!!!) dog print, and went to Buzz. Also went home for lunch for twice baked pizza (great!) and coffee ice cream. and Law and order.
Stuff to do, but it's 5 and I'm ready to call it a day. Glueing frames and tweaking website.
Gay pride this weekend. Of course it's scorching sunny. Always!!

solid day printing. sometimes (usually) these dog commissions get waaay out of hand. They turn into epic printing projects with multiple passes. I never account for the x20 amount of time they take.
Anyway, it's progressing.
soooooooo nice to have air conditioning here in the new studio. The old place was miserable opening and closing the (sort of broken) door. And feeling confined to that small space. This is a major luxury.
Took DOWN the bird feeder after all the bird drama it was causing! poop everywhere. Fights. Bumping into the window, and just general chaos. Those little birds are a pain. Oh well. Maybe it will come back out in the winter.
Think I'll go home now. And see ms. remi.

pretty good couple of days.
new emulsion seems to be working well. 1000% better actually.
Lazy weekend with not a lot of plans. Unlike weekend coming up. No pool happened, but that is my fault.
birds are going batty for the feeder. They discovered in late last week, and now there is a lot of activity. We had to move it back a bit to avoid the car below. . .
Went to home depot today and picked up a lot of wood. New prints on the horizon.

good solid day.
still rainy, but I'm making creative ground (which is a big deal).
Birds have finally discovered the feeder. So funny, I wonder what the holdup was? And do they somehow tell each other about it? Because all different birds are coming by. Just now a big blue jay. And crows earlier. I love it. (and a little unnerving. I feel like I've summoned the birds….)
No progress on fixing the emulsion, but after a series of emails with nazdar, I'm getting a small quantity of replacement emulsion. Small victory I guess.
New studio needs 2.0 makeover. I just kind of stopped. Lots to improve and move and unpack still. But, I'm really liking it. I'm here all day, and the time just goes by. Which is how it should be.

rainy monday! Big storm late afternoon. Wind and heavy rain.
SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE. Excited coming in this morning, thinking it was June. I usually regret letting June go when July comes around. Usually a fast month, and it just slips by. But this year I want to savor it.
Hexy and I started our watering regime. Still a little shaky on the morning routine with coffee and parking. Street cleaning sucks here at the new studio. Looks like Mondays and Tuesdays are going to be virtually impossible when in comes to parking near the studio. So lucky to have been on the boundary line before. Now I'm right smack in the middle of it. So I parked 5 blocks away.
Frustrated with emulsion problems. Started WISH YOU WERE HERE Saturday, and realized my newly mixed emulsion was washing out. Spent more time today trying to troubleshoot, but I'm discouraged. Hopefully my call into NAZDAR will be beneficial. A big perk of the corcoran - never having to deal with these frustrations (and money pits).
Beginning of the month means lots of $ out. Hopefully I can get back on track bringing $ in. 2015 hasn't been so great. :(
