weird gloomy thoughtful thursday.

re-discovered Sarah McLachlan / Fumbling Towards Ecstasy on spotify.  So great, stirring up so many vivid memories of coming out, Joe, Rockville, Bsur in chevy chase, driving Mo to the airport, my blue honda, and all the angst and ecstasy that surrounded it all.  Music can be as powerful as smell in conjuring up long forgotten memories.

Anyway, loving reliving it all, and thinking about where I was and what I was doing.

This is such a time of transition for Hex and I and branddave and remi and everything.  Sifting through all of our stuff and deciding what is really important:  photos, magazines, receipts, letters, Bruce Weber collections, drawings, books, cd's ( m e m o r i e s )

I'm re-inventing my workdays and life, away from the Corcoran just as I did 5 years ago, away from bsur and into the unknown.

New patterns and traditions and ways of doing things, and being.  New paths for Remi and I.  Lots to think about with Ms Remi as she slows down.  She is becoming old.  Not frail yet, but I feel it -- and memories of all I went through with precious Butter.  It's painful to think about, but it's right if front of me everyday.  She is so precious to us.  I wish she could live forever.

I just remember Joe coming to bsur.  Walking up the stairs and seeing him there in the hallway.  Everything changed.  It was this enormous turning point - and I had no idea at the time.

So exciting and interesting to think about.  How we move through life, changing very very subtly each day, but then suddenly everything feels and is sooooo different.  I think of Hexy as a new development, but it's been 7 years!  It's been 6 years since leaving bsur!  Remi is 12!  I came out 24 years ago!!!  crazy!!

This music really brings me back.

productive day on the move (I think).

not so much at the studio.  Scattered and anxious.  But everything will work out just fine.
Crate carcus.  Doesn't come close to illustrating the task of disassembly!

Delivery of my brand new exposure unit!  Was completely unexpected, which made it "pre-anxiety" free.  Ive been worried for awhile now about getting that thing from the truck, to sidewalk, to desk inside.

All worked out well -- nice weather, and hex was right on hand to help disassemble the crate.  We found a guy on the street to help lift up the stairs.  IMPOSSIBLE without him.  Finally, I just hired somebody to haul away all the broken down crate parts (significant).

It's big and bulky but will be great to have.

Onward and upward!

I have this new threshold for physical labor (lower) and I'm not liking it!

Noticed it last few weeks as I worked on tables, and painted walls, ceilings, and floors of new studios.  And now, after a full day of assembling my new washout booth, and reconfiguring the kitchen, I am beat!  My whole body is just tired.

Great progress on teh kitchen though.  Really happy with the new flow, and think it's going to work well.  Ha - it's been a long road since visualizing it, getting the stove and fridge out, ordering the booth, to today!  A few final important peices to add, but I'm feeling 90% there.

Tomorrow is a weather wildcard.  Planning for sidewalk sale, but the weather will decide it.

so so day.

happy to have escaped the 17th st festival saturday.  I was looking for an out, and it just landed in my lap!  Full refund received!

Now Hex and I can relax a bit, and not lug all that stuff over 4 blocks.  Much smarter and cheaper and better just to do it on the sidewalk here.  weather permitting . . . .

washout booth arrived.  Need to unpack and set up.

drawing progress (?).  time will tell.

Pending (everything)

move in date > we'll see

plumbing bill > coming soon

Dolcezza install > we'll see

Exposure unit > coming soon

Such unsatisfying answers to my big questions monday (panic).  September is shaping up as a big wait-and-see.  I feel a little on edge.

Drawing today was a mixed bag.

wow - surprised it's been since wednesday since I wrote last.

weekend - good, spent doing typical weekend things.  Strange not printing Saturdays.  Good strange though.  I'm happy to have the time off, even though I rarely spend it well.  Not sure why that is, but nothing new!

Anxious about all the stuff coming, so it's not so bad being lazy and regrouping.

Tables progressing, and studio B is in good shape.  THis week things will be coming in for printing, but it's all taking longer then expected.  After a small panic attack this morning, I'm feeling more calm about it all. I just need to work and plan accordingly, and stay on track.  After October, everything should be normal and regular.

In good shape for the festival this Saturday.  That's a plus.

Reoccurring dream reoccurred last night:  I'm back at bsur and have all this work to do and somehow I left but then came back to work there and want to leave again.  This time I broke the news to Jeremy.  very strange and really vivid.

Wednesday already.  Left last night almost done with the second table.  MAJOR struggle this time with the wood and drill and my poor "poke" tool.  Such a contrast with the last table.  This one gave me nothing but problems.

Today I repainted the back studio, and am much happier with it.  A quick reversal from my more lazy plan.  I was just going to leave the vanilla ice cream walls and paint the floor parameter with the same sad purplish brownish grey leftover paint.  Suddenly I knew that was a huge mistake, so I painted most of the walls white, and have a new brown plan for the floor to match the rug.  Will be much better.  After all, hex and I cleared the whole room this morning.  THIS IS THE TIME to fix it and make it great.  Much happier.

6th year anniversary working on my own!  Amazing how quickly time has gone by.  Really really amazing.

had a good weekend.  Really productive saturday preparing food for Dad's 83rd bday party yesterday.  All around good party.  Nice for the whole family to get together.  Of course we stayed late playing parcheesi, and had lots of fun.

Lopsided day today (labor day).  It's nice out, and I feel all this angst about working and getting stuff done vs. slacking off and enjoying the break.  Probably will just do a little of both.

Lots to accomplish next few months.  It's daunting.
